Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann Asmussen, 83, of Bronson, IA, passed away surrounded by her family on September 25, 2024. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, October 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Moville, IA, with Father Mike Erpelding officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Jackie was born on April 4, 1941, in Kodiak, Alaska and was later adopted by Anthony and Lucille (Sorensen) McGowen. She graduated from high school and went on to receive her degree in nursing. Jackie was a selfless, giving woman, who put others before herself and was always doing little things for people without them knowing. She worked as a RN at Mercy Hospital for over 15 years. She was united in marriage to John Asmussen on September 3, 1960, and had just celebrated 64 wonderful years of marriage. Jackie was a master gardener and enjoyed nature, the outdoors, flowers, butterflies, and feeding the squirrels. She loved her family and was everyone's favorite aunt.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, John Asmussen; children: Anna, Jo Ann, John, and Patrick Asmussen; and a sister, sister Mary Hugh McGowen.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Mike McGowen.
