Obituary

Jackson Jae Michael Moss, 10, was granted his angel wings on May 30th, 2024, following a lifelong battle with congenital heart disease. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Jackson had touched dearly throughout his short, yet very memorable life.   A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 9th at 12:00 p.m., with a visitation from 10-noon at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave, Sioux City, IA.

Jackson’s  life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.

Jackson was a third grader at Covington Elementary School, whom we received tremendous support from during his journey.

His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him. Although Jackson’s illness made him appear frail, he possessed strength, perseverance, and the ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He could spend hours watching scary movies with his mom, dad and sister, Lucy. He loved listening to music, dancing, watching funny YouTube videos and playing Xbox with his dad.

With Jackson’s passing, we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. We will miss him every day, especially his cheerful sarcasm and warm hugs, But He will forever remain in our hearts.

Jackson’s love extends to his wonderful medical team at Children's Nebraska, who hold a special place in our hearts.  Because of their continual dedication and support Jackson was able to overcome some of his toughest challenges. All of these special people, too numerous to mention, provided Jackson with love and dignity in his life and also in his death.

Jackson is survived by his loving parents, Jonathan and Tomi, his sisters: Lucille, Charlotte, his parental Grandparents, Johnny, Roxanne Schleis, Jeff, Rhonda Moss, Maternal great grandmother Peg and Mike Bucy, Maternal grandfather, Tom Dahl, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends that will miss him dearly.

Jackson is preceded in death by his Grandmother Stephanie Dahl, and his Aunt JaeLynn Moss.
