Obituary

Jack Leonard Ryan, age 71, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday February 14, 2013 at a Sioux City hospital.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 5-8pm at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Mr. Ryan will be cremated following the visitation and graveside memorial services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Jack was born in Sioux City on June 29, 1941, the son of Thomas L and Violet Leola (Berden) Ryan. He attended Sioux City Community Schools. He served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Viet Nam War.

Jack worked for the City of Sioux City for more than 30 years before retiring in 2002.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, painting ceramics, working on jigsaw puzzles, as well as reading western books, doing carpentry projects, and watching James Bond movies. He cherished the time he could play with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Ruth of Sioux City, his son Douglas Ryan and his wife Roni of Sioux City, his daughters: Heather Ryan and Becky McWilliams both of Sioux City, a brother Gary Ryan and his special friend Shirley of Sioux City, two sisters Norma Blue and her husband Eugene of Sioux City, and Betty Hitchcock of Sergeant Bluff. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
