Howard F. "Howie" Haberer age 72, died Friday, January 2, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday January 10, 2026 at Morningside Lutheran Church 700 S. Martha in Sioux City Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Howard Franklin Haberer was born on October 21, 1953 in Sioux City Iowa, the son of Franklin and Gwendolyn (Dyslin) Haberer. Howie was a 1971 graduate of East High School. Howie married Michele Boyett in 1981.

Howie worked for his father at Haberer Plastering. From 1982 to 1995 he worked at the Woodbury County Sheriff's Department. Howie then was self-employed and worked in plastering and painting until retiring in 2015.

Howie was a dedicated member of the AA community, the Mankind Project, and a big part of the local recovery community. He helped many along the way and was a sponsor and good friend to many. Howie also loved music very much attending live concerts throughout his life, especially with his kids.

Howie is survived by his son, Aaron (Whitney) Haberer, daughters: Angela (Dustin) Wall and Molly (Carlos) Burnside; grandchildren: Adrienne Wall, Audrey Wall, Myles Burnside, Kohen Haberer and Wesley Haberer; and a brother, Eric (Lora) Haberer and their children: Jack and Ava Haberer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
