Herman "Tom" S. Thomas

Herman “Tom” Thomas, 90, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on March 26, 2026. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Tom was born on May 8, 1935 in Tekamah, NE to William and Matilda (Renner) Thomas. He enlisted into the United States Navy and served until he was honorably discharged after 8 years. He was united in marriage to Violet Smith in 1975 in Elk Point, SD. Tom worked as a truck driver for Hirschbach and R & E Trucking for most of his life. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed drinking, smoking, and spending time with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Violet Thomas; daughter, Tomalyn Gengler; son, Mike Roberts; 4 step-children; grandchildren: Noah (Elizabeth) Gengler, Tanisha Lovegreen, Tia Lovegreen, Bethanie Roberts, and Miracle Roberts; and 5 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
