Herman P. Schultz, 80 of Sergeant Bluff, IA and formerly of Brookings, SD passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab, Sergeant Bluff, IA.  Funeral Services have been set for 10:00am Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at First United Methodist Church, Brookings, SD.  Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Rude’s Funeral Home, Brookings, SD.

Herman Schultz was born July 4, 1942, in Brookings, SD, to Herman Hendricks and Gladys Skaggs Hendricks (Schultz). He was raised in Brookings by his mother and stepfather, Fred Schultz. He died at Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab in Sergeant Bluff, IA, while under hospice care for Alzheimer’s Disease. He was married to Sandra Boswell, and to their union was given three daughters, Tina, Annessa, and Pamela.

Herman graduated from Brookings High School and earned a degree in restaurant management from South Dakota State University. He served in the Army National Guard in the Brookings and Valley City, ND, units, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. He worked as a college food service director for many years.

Herman enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He was an Iowa Lifetime Master Gardener, teaching several master gardener classes, and was also involved with the Iowa Tree Steward program.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughters, Christina (Troy) Strid, Annessa Schultz, and Pamela (Matthew) Baker; grandchildren, Megan and Connor Strid and Logan, Camden, Brighton, and Lincoln Baker; brother, James (Susan) Schultz; nieces, Amanda (John) Richards, Katie (James) Millar, and Jodene Schultz. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, brother, Charles Schultz, and nephew, Michael Schultz.
