Herbert H. Henjes, 86 of Jefferson, South Dakota, passed away Monday, May 4, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family. Due to the state and federal guidelines on gathering during the Covid-19 pandemic the visitation will be limited to 10 people at a time in the building Visitation will be held from 10:00am until Noon on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Burial will be at 1:30pm in Lyons Cemetery in Lyons, Nebraska.

Herbert Henry Henjes was born May 22, 1933 in Walthill, NE. the son of Henry and Agnes (Marie) Henjes. Herbert grew up in Walthill, NE. where he graduated from Walthill High School.  He joined the United States Army. Herbert married Mary Ann Peterson and in this union they had two children; Tim and Mark Henjes. She passed away on October 3, 1999.  Herbert farmed in Walthill for 50 years. On September 17, 2007 Herbert married Shirley Hamman.

He enjoyed farming with his Allis Chalmer Tractor, and spending time with his family. Herbert was a member of the American Legion and the Walthill Lutheran Church.

Herbert is survived by his wife, Shirley of Jefferson, SD, his children; Tim (Lisa) Henjes of Waverly, NE, Mark Henjes of Georgia, step children; Melody (Tony) Flesjer, Shelly Hamman, Tammy Yockey, Bruce (Misty) Hamman, Robert Hamman, and Lisa Schmidt, one sister, Agnes (Dale Kai) Deal, three brothers, Martin(Linda) Henjes, Larry (Christy) Henjes, Vernon (Carolyn) Henjes, four grandchildren; Nathan Henjes, Jacob Henjes, Selana (Trenton) Bulin, and Abby Henjes, several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mary Ann.
