Obituary

Helyn Beatrice Farney, age 85, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday March 28, 2013 at a local care facility.

Per her wishes, she has been cremated and no visitation or services will be held at this time. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Helyn was born on October 20, 1927, in Maskell, Nebraska, the daughter of William and Amy (Gran) Bevelhymer.

Helyn spent her early years in the Ponca, Nebraska area until moving to Sioux City in 1948, where she worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 20 years before retiring.

She was united in marriage with Milton Farney on November 2, 1962 in Sioux City.

She was an active member of the Shrine Auxiliary for many years. She and Milton traveled to many events throughout the United States and attended many parades during that time.

She enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening, word puzzles and reading.

She is survived by her husband Milton, three sons: Bruce Roberts of Eagle, Alaska, Dennis Roberts of Sioux City, and William Roberts of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and a daughter Julie Davis of Sloan, Iowa. She is also survived by a sister Mary Hutchings of Rapid City, South Dakota, a sister-in-law Helen Bevelhymer of Ponca, Nebraska and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother William, two infant sons, two infant daughters and her grandson Matthew Ross.

The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Siouxland in her memory.
