Helen Lucile Lapora, 71, of Sioux City, IA, passed away September 21, 2024, at a local hospital.  A memorial service will be held Friday, September 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.  Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery.

Helen was born on June 21, 1953, in Sioux City, IA to Delva and Pauline (Barnes) Markland.  She graduated from Central High School.  Helen was united in marriage to Ronnie Lapora on April 6, 1977, in Sioux City.  She enjoyed going to garage sales, flea markets, thrifting, collecting butterflies and owls, and her pink drinks from Starbucks.  Helen especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She worked as a kindergarten teacher at Rosamond Christian School in California.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Ronnie Lapora; children: Christine Hartman, Betty Pelton, Dodi Krynen, Jerry Lapora, and Bobbette Kaufman; grandchildren: Patsy, Corissa, Vanessa, Justyn, Jenett, Dorothy, Emily, Brittany, Leah, Tiffany, Taylor, Abigail, Jobe, Alexus, Alyssa, Allyzabeth, Hannah, Timothy, Mychelle, Braeden, and Alaina;  great-grandchildren: D'Mitri, Xavier, Hunter, Carson, Connor, Jackson, Justyn Jr., Erin, Keytin, Landin, Jacksin, Nevaeh, Isaac, Junior, Wrenna, Jasmine, Jordin, Leon, Samson, Sierra, Leala, Noah, James, Riley, Brandon Jr., Lilly, Willow, Mykah, Kingston, Jakarr, Jalen, Ezra, Eliza, Canaan, and Asher; sister, Barbara Lovegreen; and sister-in-law, Jessie (Dave) Hicks.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
