Harvey Huggenberger, 86 of Hinton, Iowa died Saturday, December 2, 2017, while surrounded with family at Westwood Specialty Care in Sioux City, Iowa. Services will be held 10:30 am, Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 with family present from 6-8 and a vigil service at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 6, 2017 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Harvey, the son of Sam and Edna Huggenberger, was born in Emerson, Nebraska in 1931. After graduating from high school in 1950, Harvey enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1955. Harvey married Jean Woolworth on July 8, 1953 in Emerson. Together, they moved to Jean’s family farm outside of Hinton, Iowa. Harvey farmed and worked as a Sears repairman for 34 years, before retiring in 1993.
Harvey was both a devoted husband and a dedicated father of six children. He enjoyed family vacations, farming, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. Harvey was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and was extremely dedicated to his faith.
Survivors include Harvey’s children, Deborah (Russell) Ruhde of Hinton, Ronald Huggenberger or Sioux City, Randy (Lori) Huggenberger of Sioux City, Dennis (Marti) Huggenberger of Merrill, Lori (Jeff) Winge-Roberts of Sioux City, and Mark Huggenberger of Brooklyn Park, MN; 10 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several other family members.
Harvey was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
