Harold Herman “Mick” Kobold, age 93, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday May 19, 2013 at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at the Onawa, Iowa cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1-2 pm at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.
Harold was born in Jamison, Nebraska on February 13, 1920, the son of Henry G. and Elizabeth K. (Hegge) Kobold. At a very young age he moved with his family to Gregory, South Dakota, where he attended school. Following his graduation from high school he entered the US Army Air Corps where he served in Egypt during the second world war. He then moved to the Onawa area, before moving to Sioux City.
He was employed by Woodbury County for many years in the stationary engineer.
Harold was united in marriage with Rose Nicola in 1952 in Wayne, Nebraska.
Harold enjoyed playing cards and BINGO, as well as fishing, dancing and singing. He also loved all animals that he came into contact with. His Greatest joy was his family.
Harold is survived by his sons: Ronald Huff of Sioux City and Gary Huff of Belleville, Illinois, his daughters: Carol Joanne Camerer and her husband Leo of Sioux City, Diane Bettridge and her husband Kendall of Fredricksburg, Virginia, and Nancy McDougal and her husband Mark of Glenwood, Iowa. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and two sisters Erma and Maxine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose, two great- grandchildren, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
