Harold G. "Woody" Johnson, 72, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at a Sioux City hospital. Memorial Service will be held 3:00 pm, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Woody was born on January 22, 1945 in Sioux City, the son of Bud and Betty (Harris) Johnson. He attended Sioux City schools. Following high school, he worked a few different jobs here and there, until enlisting into the United States Navy. Woody later joined the 185th Air National Guard.
Woody was previously married, and to this union three children were born, and he later divorced. Woody married Leslie Lynn Pippitt on November 17, 1973 in Sioux City. He has worked in the maintenance department in various places around Siouxland; St Joseph Hospital/Mercy Medical (where he met and fell in love with Lynn),Sioux City Community Schools, and First Presbyterian Church.
Woody was always working on something or "putzing around." He enjoyed collecting boats and collecting model trains. Family was very important to Woody and always looked forward to spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn; children, Scott Johnson, Brad Johnson, Maria Shultz and her husband Justin of Sioux City, and Kimberly Oien and her husband Michael of Hinton; brother, Mike Johnson and his wife Peg of Sioux City; sister, Janice Watkins and her husband Larry of Sioux City; grandchildren, Jadan, Jayce, Mason, Nolan, Natalie, and Jurni; and his favorite cousin, Jeanne.
Woody was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy; and Aunt Rene.
