Harley Montie Plum Sr. age 72, of Sioux City passed away on Monday February 11, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held on Friday February 15, 2013 at 11:00am from St. James United Methodist Church in Sioux City with Rev. Ryan Christenseon, officiating. Mr. Plum will be cremated following the funeral service. Military rites will be offered at the conclusion of the service by the United States Navy. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-8pm with a prayer service held at 6:00pm at the church. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Harley was born in Sioux City on May 19, 1940, the son of Monte C. and Hilda (Coil). Plum. He attended Sioux City Community Schools. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy following his education.
Harley was united in marriage with Georgia Stone on September 12, 1961 in Sioux City. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Pinney Construction for his entire life until his retirement in 2011.
He enjoyed his work, as well as his pets, gardening, entertaining friends and spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be missed by his family which includes his wife Georgia, his sons: Harley Jr. of Sioux Falls, S.D. Rodney and his wife Jennifer and Randy all Sioux City; his daughter Tammy Best and her husband Jerry of Sioux City, his brother Lyle Plum of Phoenix, AZ. , and his 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Maurice.
