Obituary

Hans “Rick” Minor, 65, of North Sioux City, S.D., passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at his residence. A Celebration of Life will be held noon to 4pm Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff, with family present from 2-4 pm Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force. Memorials may be directed to the family.

A very special thank you to Rev. Roy Chrisman and his wife Tammy for coming to Rick’s home and giving a private prayer service for the family.

Rick was born October 26, 1947 in Gross-Gerau, Germany. He came to the United States at the age of 5. He became a United States Citizen at the age of 16 and was very proud to be an American Citizen. He joined the Air Force after high school and served his country in Korat, Thailand during the Vietnam War.

Rick worked at Swift and Company, owned and operated his own business, worked for Mid American Energy and for Siouxland Concrete. He loved old cars, was a self taught mechanic and spent many hours fixing things. Rick liked to hunt, fish, and watch NASCAR. Rick fulfilled his last two wishes; he butchered a hog for a 4th of July hog roast and had a vacation with his wife to 4mile Lake in South Dakota.

Rick was a past member of North Sioux Volunteer Fire Department. He served as President of the planning and zoning board of North Sioux and was a member of the VFW Post 7690.

Rick married Patricia Gilbertson on July 10th, 1971 in North Sioux City, where they made their home.

Survivors include his wife Pat of 42 years, daughters: Candy Renee Minor, Shelly Jo (Shane) Cray and his very special granddaughter Brylie Rose Cray all of North Sioux City. His parents Margarete and Paul Minor of North Sioux City, brothers Harry of North Sioux and Jeff of Sioux City, and many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and many great friends. He will be missed by his faithful companion, Tippy.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, sister, two nephews, niece, and mother and father-in-law.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Ensley, Bruce Gilbertson, Ben Honomichl, Jim Marshall, Fred Simons, and Shane Cray.
