Gwendolyn "Gwen" Haberer, 84, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at Hallmark Care Center.
Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue.
Gwendolyn Amelia Ann Dyslin was born March 7, 1930 in Richland, South Dakota, the daughter of Harvey and Thelma (Daniels) Dyslin. Gwen grew up in Richland and attended school in Elk Point, South Dakota.
On April 16, 1950, Gwen was united in marriage to Frank Haberer in Sioux City, going on to raise two sons and overseeing the financial side of the family business, Haberer Plastering Company. Gwen enjoyed world travel and summers in Okoboji, but her proudest and happiest moments were spent with her family.
Survivors include her two sons, Howie Haberer of Sioux City and Eric (Lora) Haberer of Scottsdale, Arizona, grandchildren, Angela (Dustin) Wall, Molly (DeCarlos) Burnside, and Aaron Haberer, all of Sioux City and Jack and Ava Haberer of Scottsdale, three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Frank, who died in December 2004, her parents, and her three brothers, Glenwood, Eldean, and Edsel Dyslin.
Gwen, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be greatly missed.
