Guinevere E. Barcelou, 91 of Seattle, Washington, formerly of Moville, Iowa died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in Seattle.
Graveside service will be held 12:00pm, Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Bethel-Piero Cemetery in Anthon, Iowa, with Military Honors by the US Army. Visitation will be from 10-11am at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff, 400 4th Street. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Guinevere Ellen (Eckert) Barcelou was born December 14, 1923, Oto, Iowa. She attended Oto School and Wayne State College. She later enlisted in the Army Air Corp (WAC Division). Cpl. Guinevere Eckert was stationed in San Francisco, CA.
On September 29, 1945, Guinevere was united in marriage to Charles Barcelou in San Francisco, CA. They lived in Carlton, Washington.
During the late 40’s they moved to Oto, Iowa where they farmed and later moved to Sioux City. In 1965, they moved to Moville, Iowa. Over the years she was a stay at home mom, helped her father-in-law in his restaurant, worked at Wincharger, and farmed in Moville and Charles and her were owner-operators leased onto Hirschbach Motor Lines before retiring.
Guinevere is survived by 4 children: Jeanne Porter (Stephen), Harold Barcelou (Sharon), Ray Barcelou (Mary), and Linda Ramthun (Dennis), 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Sisters, Vonnie Behrens, Willa Lou (Jack) McGarry, Mona Heath, Glenna Walsh, and Christal Hedtke. Along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Charles; son, Willard; grandchildren, Christopher, Billie Rae and Mallory.
