Griselda Martinez Perez, 50, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away surrounded by her family on July 2, 2026. A funeral mass will be held Friday, July 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Griselda was born on June 1, 1976 in Actopan, Hidalgo, Mexico to Alejandro Martinez Santillan and Josefina Perez Lozano. She graduated high school and came to the United States where she dedicated her life to work for a better future not only herself but her children. Griselda was an ambitious hard worker and loved cooking food at home or learning new recipes. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Those who knew Griselda, know she was full of energy, joy, and always curious to learn new things every day. She never held herself back from buying things she wanted to have or even trying a new position at work. 

Griselda always supported her family in any way she could financially or physically, she was the one many could lean on and the one that really held the family together. She always loved to decorate her home for every season or occasion, especially for Christmas and Day of the Dead being her favorite holidays. Griselda was especially grateful for her children who always supported her through every hard trail in life, most importantly this one in fighting cancer.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Juan Luis Diaz Martinez, Victor Diaz Martinez, and Yakelin Diaz Martinez; and mother, Josefina.

Se celebrará una misa de funeral el viernes 10 de julio a las 11:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica St. Michael's en South Sioux City, Nebraska. La visitación será el jueves de 4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. en Waterbury Funeral Service de Sioux City.

Griselda nació el 1 de junio de 1976 en Actopan, Hidalgo, México, hija de Alejandro Martínez Santillán y Josefina Pérez Lozano. Se graduó de la preparatoria y posteriormente emigró a los Estados Unidos, donde dedicó su vida a trabajar para construir un mejor futuro, no solo para ella, sino también para sus hijos.

Griselda era una mujer trabajadora y llena de ambición. Le encantaba cocinar en casa y aprender nuevas recetas. Disfrutaba pasar tiempo de calidad con su familia, especialmente con sus sobrinos, sobrinas y nietos.

Quienes tuvieron la dicha de conocer a Griselda saben que estaba llena de energía, alegría y siempre tenía el deseo de aprender algo nuevo cada día. Nunca dudaba en comprarse algo que deseaba o en aceptar un nuevo puesto de trabajo. Siempre apoyó a su familia de cualquier manera posible, ya fuera económica o físicamente. Era la persona en quien todos podían apoyarse y quien realmente mantenía unida a la familia.

Le encantaba decorar su hogar para cada temporada y ocasión especial, siendo la Navidad y el Día de los Muertos sus celebraciones favoritas.

Griselda estaba especialmente agradecida por sus hijos, quienes siempre la apoyaron en cada una de las pruebas difíciles que enfrentó en la vida, y especialmente durante su lucha contra el cáncer.

Quienes honran y atesoran su memoria son sus hijos: Juan Luis Díaz Martínez, Víctor Díaz Martínez y Yakelin Díaz Martínez; y su madre, Josefina.
