Grace M. Nelson, 95 of Sioux City, formerly of Sergeant Bluff, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave, with Pastor Tim Rieckhoff – Faris officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff, 400 4th Street. Grace was born on January 14, 1920 in Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Casper and Bertha (Clay) Loker. She graduated from the Westfield High School in 1938. On August 28, 1940 Grace was united in marriage to Francis O. Nelson in Wayne, Nebraska. Grace and Francis farmed in the Sergeant Bluff area until her husband’s death in 1988. Grace remained independent and on the farm until 2013.

The past few years, Grace lived at the Whispering Creek Retirement Community and enjoyed social activities with her friends and family. Grace was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff.

Grace is survived by one son, Robert Nelson and his wife Linda of Colorado and one daughter, Jeanene and her husband Brent Jackson, of Omaha, Nebraska; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Debra Peniska, one grandson, William and one great granddaughter, Tessa.
