Gordon "Curly" Hummel, 88, of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at his residence. Celebration of life will be held from 4-8pm with a service at 6:00 pm on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Curly was born on March 16, 1929 in Coleridge, NE to Blaine and Iva (Walton) Hummel. He graduated from Hartington, NE High School on 1946. Curly joined the United States Army in June of 1946 and was honorably discharged in October of 1947.
Curly was the owner and operated of D & T Trucking for many years. At one time he also owner a bar and restaurant, Railroad Lunch for many years. In 1965, he bought and moved to Hidden Valley Ranch, where he lived for the rest of his years.
Curly enjoyed going camping and fishing, was a member of the Boys of '68, and had been commander of the VFW post in riverside for many years.
Survivors include his best friend, Helen Eriksen; sister, Lois Crawford; 10 nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Curly was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dwaine, Keith, and Larry; and sister, Bonnie.
