Obituary

Glenn A. McCreary Jr., 64 of Dakota Dunes, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at a Sioux City care facility.

Memorial Services will be held 2 pm Saturday, April 11th at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue with Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service time. Online condolences may be sent to www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.

Glenn Arnold McCreary, Jr., was born on April 3, 1951, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Glenn and Violet (Clayton) McCreary. In 1962, the family moved to Sioux City. Glenn graduated from Central High School in 1969. After graduation, Glenn worked at the McCreary Sawmill in Sergeant Bluff for a year, than entered the University of South Dakota where he earned his Degree in Business. After graduation from USD, he was employed by Quaker Oats Company in Cedar Rapids. In 1980, he moved back to Sioux City, where he worked for General Motors at Rochester Products until it’s closing, when he transferred through GM to Wichita Falls, Texas. Due to his health, he returned to this area in 2007 and resided in Dakota Dunes.

Glenn was a former UAW Union member. Glenn trained in the martial arts and his main interest was managing an investment portfolio.

Glenn is survived by his sisters, Sheryl and her husband Gary Lester of Sergeant Bluff and Suzanne and her husband Rudy Becicka of Pueblo West, Colorado; two nephews and two nieces; and a long time friend Ellie Ham of Sioux City, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.
