He lived, he laughed, he loved, and now, he is eternally rejoicing with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Glenn Odell Johnson was born to Carl and Hjordis Johnson in Hettinger, ND on September 10, 1945. He was raised in faith and was baptized and confirmed at Wolf Butte Lutheran Church. He graduated from Hettinger High School and was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a Combat Medic and received the Bronze Star.
Glenn married his wife, Sherri, who was drawn to his sense of humor and compassion for others. He was blessed with three children, Sara, Nathan, and Joshua, and three grandchildren, Brandon, Beau, and Hanna. He owned and operated Quality Care Janitorial with his wife until his retirement in 2014.
Glenn loved to laugh, and be with his children, grandchildren, and friends. He could talk to anybody, anywhere, about anything. Strangers soon became friends. He enjoyed riding motorcycle, camping, fishing, hunting, and finding a good bargain. Glenn was a member of the American Legion and The Legion Riders.
Glenn loved Jesus Christ and worshipping at Morningside Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed his friends from The Siouxland Center for Active Generations. Glenn also loved his friends from his Friday morning and Thursday evening small groups.
Left to cherish his memory, wife, Sherri; daughter, Sara and Mark Hattermann of Sioux City; two sons, Nathan Johnson of Sioux City, and Joshua and Dawn Johnson of Omaha, NE; three grandchildren, Brandon, Beau, and Hanna; and sister, Ida and Bob Pollock of Fremont, NE.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Hjordis; infant brother, Clyde; brother, Leo; and sister, Marlene.
A special thank you too all of the doctors and nurses who attended to him, especially Dr. Caridad Tan, who became not just a doctor, but a friend. A special thank you to the staff and volunteers of Siouxland Hospice.
