Glen D. Jaqua, 86, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at local nursing home. Per his wishes, Glen has been cremated. Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Visitation with family present will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden, Iowa.
Glen was born on February 13, 1931 in Woodstock, Minnesota to Raymond and Marie (Malone) Jaqua. He married Ruth Giffin on June 19, 1949 in Holland, MN. Together they farmed near Pipestone and moved to Hawarden, IA in 1965. Glen worked as a mechanical engineer for packing plants in Hawarden, IA, LeMars, IA, Lexington, NE, and Norfolk, NE.
Retiring in 1996, Glen and Ruth moved to Ireton, IA where they owned and operated Mama and Papa J's Cafe. Ruth passed away in 2004. Glen also ran a small side business, Glen's Do All Handyman. In 2010, Glen moved to the Sioux City area where he lived until his passing.
Glen enjoyed going dancing, bowling, playing cards, and going to casinos to play the slots. He loved spending time with family and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his children, Butch (Bonnie) Jaqua of Sioux City, IA, Vicky (Gary) Carlson of Sioux City,IA, Cheryl (John) Risty of LeMars, IA, Sandy (Dale) Gilyard of Westport, SD, Patricia (Scott) Kirkegaard of Hastings, NE; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren, with one on the way; son in law, Roger Henry of Hawarden, IA; and brother in law, Duane Bowen of Black River Falls, WI.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Marie Jaqua; wife, Ruth Jaqua; daugther, Sharon Henry; 6 siblings; grandson, Jay Mortensen; and great granddaughter, Audrey Rose Sitzmann.
