Gilda B. Mize, 89, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at a local hospital. Per her wishes, Gilda has been cremated and private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Gilda was born on September 3, 1927 in Westerly, Rhode Island, the daughter of Sidney and Hilda (Unkuri) Hindle. Gilda married William J. Mize on June 7, 1945 and together they had 5 children.
Gilda was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She also worked part time at Younkers over the years especially at Christmas time. She enjoyed drawing and painting pictures, trips back to Rhode Island to visit family and spend time at the beach, cooking and shopping. Most importantly, Gilda loved life.
Survivors include her children, Nancy Wilcox of Westfield, IA, Karen Ahrens of Penn, Sally (Jim Jr.) Bleil of Moville, IA, and William (Molly) Mize III of Sioux City, Susan McKenna of Sioux City; Grandchildren, Jake And Jesse (Misty) Rains, Jerid and David Ahrens, Sara (Randy) Wilde, and Jane (Damon Lutz) McKenna; Great Grandchildren,Randi, Lucas, Katelyn Charley, Amber and Cassidy.
Gilda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William J. Mize Jr; and sons in law, Charles Wilcox and William McKenna.
