Geraldine “Geri” Lee Brown, 65, of Vermillion, SD, passed away May 26, 2025, at a Sioux City hospital from a short but valiant battle with Lung Cancer.  A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5 at First Baptist Church in Vermillion, SD.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Geri was born on November 5, 1959, in Vermillion, SD to Glenn Taggart and Verna (Lane) Bursell.  She met her soul mate, Kenneth “Kennie” Brown, in 1978 and they were united in marriage in December 1984.  To this union they had 4 children.  Together the couple lived in Burbank, SD until just before his death in 2018.  Geri then moved to Vermillion.  When her children were young, she stayed home to care for them, and later she began working as a cashier and baker at Casey’s General Store in Elk Point, SD.  Geri enjoyed cooking and baking, especially around the holidays.  She always made sure everyone was well fed and often made treats for the kids at school, neighbors, and her coworkers.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: HoneyLynn (Eric) Schweers, Joshua Brown, Matthew (Lynn) Brown, and Samantha (Nolan) Stolz; grandchildren, Shaylene “Shay”, Mariah, Kenneth “Kenny”, Jessica “Jessi”, Destiny; one great-granddaughter, Sophia, and one great-granddaughter on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Kennie.
