Gerald Henry Meister, 81, of Sioux City, IA passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at his home.

Memorial services will be held 4 pm Saturday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave.

Gerald was born Friday, June 3, 1938 to John and Elizabeth (Burger) Meister in West Point, Nebraska. He served in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged. Gerald was a huge Nebraska Husker fan enjoying all Husker sports especially football. Gerald retired from a career with IBP and spent the last 15 years working for Sam’s Club, a job he loved. Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family and was a master when it came to grilling.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Karen (Wilson); his sons Gary (Barb) Meister, Dan (Kassia) Meister, Ron (Loyce) Meister, Kevin Maas, and  Lee (Michelle) Maas; daughters Linda Beal, Jean (Doug) Reicks, Carol Meister, and Terri Maas; 21 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother Lawrence Meister; sisters Elaine Taylor, Georgene Black, and Johnitta Guinzy.

Gerald was preceded in death by a son Darin Maas; his parents; brothers Robert Meister, Paul Meister, Rollie Meister; and sister Henrietta Spizzirri.
