Gerald "Jerry" or “Moose” Lloyd Steemken, 82, of Sioux City, IA, passed away December 31, 2024, at home.  A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 8 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Jerry was born on October 6, 1942, in Emerson, NE to Ernest and Estella (Grove) Steemken.  He graduated from Central High school in Sioux City, IA and was united in marriage to Susan Porter on August 31, 1963, in Sioux City, IA.  He worked at IBP for many years before moving to Omaha, NE and working at Iron Mountain before finally retiring.  They moved back to Sioux City, IA to be closer to family.  He loved playing golf, watching Nebraska and Packer’s football along with his” Cranky” Yankees Baseball team. He enjoyed watching all sports and playing games on his computer.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Susan Steemken; children: Laura Bruggeman, Lisa Taylor, Mike (Tammy) Steemken, Linda Florke, Chris (Heather) Steemken, and Chad (Joy) Steemken; brother, Gary (DeDee) Steemken; sister, Wanda Honeycutt; sisters-in-law: Sally Smith, Sandy LaPointe (Wayne Thietje), and Pam (Ron) Florke and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Funk; and sons-in-law: Stan Florke and Joe Bruggeman, and grandson James Florke.
