Georgia Mae Risley, 71, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Touchstone Living Center. Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, at Candlewick Apartments Club House, 2000 Outer Drive N, Sioux City. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Georgia was born on August 26, 1948 in Hawarden, Iowa to Milton and Eva (Lalumendre) Heyl. She married Franklin Eugene Batten in 1971, and together they had one son, Shannon.

Georgia was known as the matriarch of the family and had an open door policy, everyone was always welcome. She was brutally honest and stubborn, but was full of patience and wisdom. Georgia enjoyed doing crafts and listening to music, especially Elvis Presley.

Survivors include her son, Shannon (Katrina) Batten; daugher, Jill Craig; brother, Ron (Betty) Heyl; sisters, Thelma (Mark) Reed and Teresa (Ron) Snider; grandchildren, Beau, Brittany, Bethany, Kayla, Ella, Christeena, Nicholas, Haley, Jordyn, Riley, Khaleesi, Gavin, Keturah, William, Austin, Hailey, Alyssa, Nyssa, Makayla, Miranda, and Melea; ten great grandchildren, with one on the way; and many nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents.
