George Alfred Ulrich, age 67, of Elk Point, South Dakota died on Saturday March 24, 2012 at his residence.
Per his request Mr. Ulrich has been cremated and a Celebration of Life service will be at a later date. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
George was born on October 22, 1944 in Schenectady, New York, the son of Alfred George and Rita(Boyle) Ulrich. He grew up in the Schenectady area and graduated from High School in 1962.
Following his graduation George joined the United States Coast Guard where he served until 1966.
George loved the outdoors, his favorite place was the mountains, he also enjoyed fishing, and just being able to kick back and relax. He loved old trucks and cars but never quite got the right one.
He met his wife Sharon when she visited friends in North Carolina and were married in November of 1999. The couple lived in the Grover, N.C. area for 3 ½ years, before moving to Elk Point in 2003.
George is survived by his wife Sharon, his son Scott of California, two daughters Kari Lara, and Kristine O’Connor, along with his grandchildren: Sean, Emilie, Zackary Rebecca, and Isaac Lara; Hannah, Haywood, and Chelsey Shanks, and great grandson Rylan Lara along with several brother and sister-in-laws and several neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother-in-law, and father-in-law.
The family says a special Thanks to God, as without him none of us would have done well during this period of illness and final goodbyes. A special Thanks to our neighbors, for the untiring help. To all Family, Friends, and co-workers, my residents, and neighbors for all the prayers, love, and support you gave us for the last 2 ½ years.
