Genevieve “Genny Lou” L. Kurtz, 76, of Sioux City, IA, passed away March 15, 2025, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.  A funeral mass will be held Friday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Cathedral of the Epiphany.  Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Genevieve was born on January 12, 1949, in Sioux City, IA to Charles and Loyola (Miller) Kurtz.  She graduated from Bishop Heelan High School and enlisted into the United States Army, where she was later honorably discharged.  She worked as a nurse’s aide and at Zenith.  She enjoyed cooking, collecting dolls and ceramic nuns, and her pets.  Genevieve loved spending time with her family, especially her sons.  She had a sunny personality and was always helping people.  Genevieve was a deeply religious woman and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons: Charles Kaufmann and Andrew Kurtz; and a sister, Bridget Kurtz.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Danny Kurtz.
