Obituary

Genevieve A. Clayton, 93 of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 with her family present, went to be with her Lord and Savior, at the Embassy Care Center in Sergeant Bluff.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 am Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Tri-State Christian Church in South Sioux City. Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Genevieve was born on May 27, 1919 in Correctionville, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Jennie (Banta) Kraft. After graduating from high school she went through normal training for her teaching certificate. Genevieve taught in Correctionville from 1937 until 1947.

On June 20, 1949 Genevieve was united in marriage to Mike Clayton in Correctionville. During the early 1960’s she taught in Smithland and later at Blessed Sacrament in Sioux City. She retired from teaching during the early 1970’s.

Genevieve enjoyed crocheting, camping and music. As a four year old, she sang on a local opera stage. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren grow. Genevieve was a charter member of the Tri State Christian Church in South Sioux City.

Genevieve is survived by her daughter, Pam and her husband Jim Paul of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Tim Paul, Mike Paul, Genni Paul-Fetterman and her husband Chad; 6 great grandchildren, Kayli, Samantha, Genna and Berkly Paul and Maleea and Macie Fetterman; and may loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike Clayton on November 1, 1977, 2 brothers, Raymond and Richard Kraft and 1 sister, Lucille Henderson. Genevieve will be greatly missed.
