Gary Joe Farley, of Ponca, NE passed away October 14, 2023, at Mercy One Hospital in Sioux City, IA.  A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City is handling the arrangements.

Gary was born September 4, 1936, and raised by loving parents, Joe and Marie Farley.

Gary graduated from Leeds High School and served in the Marine Corps, various occupations, worked in the casino industry, and security at Briar Cliff. Gary's family will always remember him as, "the Non-Conformist." No one could tell Gary what to do or how to behave. Gary could be described as feisty, mischievous, competitive, and vigorous. Life was one giant tournament. Be it boxing, golfing, bowling, dancing, or mall-walking, Gary strove to come out on top. We will remember Gary for the laughs we had to muffle in public, for the blushing we did when he told us a story of his younger years, and for the spirit he had for life.
Gary was a lover of dancing with beautiful women, driving his Cadillac, attending high school basketball games, and spoiling his precious dogs.

Gary also always held a special spot in his heart for his daughter, Mona. She was his pride and joy, and they grew incredibly close in her adult years. Gary was lucky to remain a close friend and confidante to her mother, Judy Farley, for the duration of his fatherhood.

We pray Gary was greeted with open arms by his late wife, Dorothy Farley, whom he has missed insurmountably.  When you think of Gary, please smile. Please shake your head. Please treat life like you only have one, and you'll make the most of it, like Gary.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Mona Gatz, and stepchildren, Everett, Tim, Cindy, and Linda. Gary had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gary is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his parents, a brother, Charles Farley, and his son-in-law, Bill Gatz.
