Garry L. Stapleton, 64, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center in Kingsley, Iowa.

A Celebration will life will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Garry was born on July 4, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Clifford and Bessie (Hughes) Stapleton. He married Phyllis Townsley on March 7, 1973.

Garry was a craftsman who loved working with his hands; he made wishing wells, a deck, playhouse, and many other things. He liked to be kept busy and was always working on something.

Survivors include his children: Gary (Cindy) Townsley, Sr., Rodney (Jennifer) Stapleton, Hoss Stapleton, Gary Townsley Jr., Wendy (Jorge) Townsley, and Jordan Townsley, grandchildren: Paiten Stapleton, Jaliegha and Jamar Sanchez, Destiny Townsley-Whitsel, and Chrystan Townsley, 3 great grandchildren, brother Art (Pam) Berndt, sisters: Judy Painter, Martha (Randy) Norgaard, and Donna Hildebrand, and sister-in-law Ilona Stapleton.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis, sister Rose, and brothers Fred and Clifford.
