Frederick W. “Fred” Hoefling, 85 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Services will be held 10:00am Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City, IA. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the American Legion 662. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm with vigil at 7pm at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave.

Frederick “Fred” Hoefling was born November 24, 1935 in Le Mars, Iowa the son of Lawrence and Viola (Meyen) Hoefling.  Fred’s family moved to California, they later moved back to Iowa where he graduated from Central High School in Le Mars in 1953. He served in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge in 1956. On November 30, 1957 Fred married Clarice in Owens, IA. He worked for Ralston-Purina.  Moving to Sioux City, Iowa where he became an independent Insurance Agent for various companies.

Fred enjoyed cat fishing on the Missouri River, gardening, canning, and cooking. He loved to take care of his family, and loved his wife. Fredrick was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Sioux City.

He is survived by his wife, Clarice, three sons, Tim (Susan) Hoefling, Charles (Myrna) Hoefling, Michael Hoefling, two daughters, Tammy Sewalson, Michelle Hoefling, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Fred is preceded in death by parents, and two sisters, Mary Ann Vlieger, and Beverly Vore.
