Freda May Booe, 87, of Jefferson, South Dakota, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011 following a brief illness at Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point, South Dakota. Services will be held 7pm Friday, May 6 at Waterbury Funeral Service with Rev. Roger Madden of First United Methodist Church in Sioux City officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held 3:00 – 7:00pm Friday with family present from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

Freda was born April 20, 1924 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Archie and Lucille (Bywaters) Harper. Her family moved to Craig, Missouri in 1930and she attended school in Craig where she resided until moving to Jefferson, South Dakota in 1956. Freda owned and operated a restaurant in Craig for many years, prior to moving to Jefferson with her husband.

Freda married William E. Booe in Oregon, Missouri on January 10, 1941. To this 60 year union, for children were born.

Freda enjoyed attending Bingo nights with her son Terry, for many years prior to her moving to Prairie Estates.

Survivors include four children: three sons, William and wife Cynthia, of Hinton, Iowa, Robert and wife Connie, of Port Richey, Florida, Terry and wife Diane of Jefferson, a daughter Brenda Higginbotham of South Sioux City, sister Dorothy Wright of Corning, Missouri, 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
