Fred A. Berndt, III, age 60, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday November 29, 2014 at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7 pm Friday, December 5, 2014 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue. Visitation with the family will be 5-8 pm.
Fred was born on October 16, 1954 in Sioux City, the son of Fred and Bessie (Hughes) Berndt. Fred graduated from high school in Sloan. He was then married to Becky Jensen in 1976. To this union was born one son, Jarrami. They were later divorced.
Fred worked at various jobs over the years, as a welder or later as a sand blaster for Merchant Sandblast and Painting. Fred enjoyed being with his family and friends. He liked to camp, work on cars, ride Harley’s and just build things.
Fred is survived by his son Jarrami (Connie) Berndt of Sloan; 3 grandchildren, Cyrus, Nicolas and Narissa; 2 brothers, Art (Pam) Berndt and Gary Stapleton; 3 sisters, Donna Hildbrandt, Martha (Randy) Norgaard and Judy Painter; and 1 sister in-law, Ilona Stapleton, all of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Clifford Stapleton and one sister, Rose Stroman.
