Frank J. Pope, 91 of Bancroft, Ne passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at his home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 10, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm with a vigil at 7pm Wednesday, June 9 at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave.
Frank was born April 24, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Frank and Anna (Naso) Pope. He graduated from Trinity in 1949. Frank entered the Army in 1951 and served during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge in 1953. Frank married Nettie Irene Westfall; they lived in the Minneapolis area for over 20 years. In 1977 they returned to Sioux City, where Frank worked as a realtor until retiring in the early 1990’s.
During his retirement he volunteered to help others .Frank lived between Sioux City and Alamo, Texas. He met Merriam Redding in 2000 and they moved to Bancroft. Frank loved to square dance.
Frank is survived by his significant other, Merriam Redding of Bancroft, NE, five sons, David (Paula) of Prescott, AZ, Mark (Kim) of Le Mars, IA, Richard (Michelle) of Omaha, NE, Tony of Chicago, IL, Joe (Cathy) of Olympia, WA, two sisters, Jo (Frank) Blair of Sioux City, Mary Corio of Jefferson, SD, five grandkids, Rachelle, Christina, Max, Katie, Olivia, and two great grandchildren, Philip, and Declan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Rose Bocian, Amelia Scursso, Annie Bostic, and four brothers, Nick, Pat, John, and Tom.
