Obituary

Francis X. Glick, 78 of Mapleton, died Friday, August 26, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Services have been rescheduled to 11 am Saturday September 3,2011 at Southern Hills Baptist Church. Burial will be at 3 pm at the Holstein Cemetery in Holstein with Military Honors provided by the Air Force. Visitation one hour prior to time of service. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Francis was born on February 13, 1933 in Rosecommon, Michigan, the son of William and Beatrice (Combs) Glick. He attended school in Houghton Lake schools. Francis joined and was a cook in the Air Force and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.

On October 20, 1954 he was united in marriage to LouAnn Glick. Together they had five children. They were later divorced. He was a truck driver for Railway Express Agency from 1959 to 1973 and later a carpenter. Most recently he was part owner of Two Old Crows Antique Shop in Ute, Iowa.

Francis enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, camping, singing, dancing and antiquing. He also enjoyed his pet dogs, Sugar and Oscar.

Francis is survived by his significant partner in life, Shirley LaFave of Mapleton; his children, Connie Swander of Charlotte, Michigan, Suzanne and her husband Brian Fredette of Council Bluffs, Brenda and her husband Richard Jordison of Sergeant Bluff and Angelia and her husband Kenneth Dixon of Sioux City; his daughter-in- law, Pamela Glick of Sioux City; Shirley LaFave’s children, Barbara, Brenda, Susan and Jamie; 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; 26 step grandchildren and 31 step great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Francis Glick, Jr., and Frankie Glick, and one sister, Eleanor Wilcox.
