Francis E. Beckwith, 88, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A visitation will be held from 4-8 with family present from 6-8, a Rosary will be at 6:45 pm and a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Frank was born on December 18, 1927 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, the son of Clarence and Francis Louise (Quinn) Beckwith, he graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1945. Frank married Marjorie LaRaine Williams on June 22, 1951 in Monterey, California. Frank joined the United States Coast Guard on September 1, 1945 and was honorably discharged on September 26, 1957. He then joined the United States Air Force on November 19, 1957 and was honorably discharged as a Senior Master Sergeant on October 31, 1965.
After his time in the service, Frank worked as a manager at Zenith Credit Union and at Junior Achievement, during their first year. Frank was a devoted member to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Men's Club, a lector, and a communion distributor. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Captain of golf and bowling leagues, and a member of TOPS.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Sioux City; children, Francis Scott Beckwith and his wife Carrie of Sergeant Bluff and Charlene Marie Jorgensen and her husband Mike of Sioux City; grandchildren, Francis Adam (Dawn) Beckwith and Chris (Jennifer) Jorgensen; great grandchildren, Francis Zephyr and Morrison Beckwith, and Austin and Carter Jorgensen.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Vera (Charlie) St. Sauveur and Ruth Brodeur.
