Frances M Hefner, age 95, of Sioux City died Monday October 15, 2012 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday October 18, 2012 at 10:30am from the Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel with Father Dennis Meinen officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the chapel. Frances was born in Lawton, Iowa on June 21, 1917, the daughter of Frank and Martha Mary (Stebner) Hefner. She graduated from Lawton schools and attended Briar Cliff College for a period of time.
Frances worked for several years at St. Joseph Hospital, she then became a medical assistant at the office of Dr. George Spellman. She then worked at a local uniform shop.
Following her retirement, Frances worked as a volunteer at Trinity Heights as a greeter for ten years.
Frances was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. She recited the Rosary on a daily basis and attended Mass also on a daily basis. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Frances was the loving owner of Mitzi and Fido. She received the nickname G.G. by her great nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her nephew Don Zenor and his wife Monda of Lawton, her neiece Judy Zenor of Tacoma, Washington, great niece Barbara Bowman, of Kingsley,Iowa Great Nephew Martin and Martha Zenor of Boca Raton, Florida, and Michael and Kim Zenor of Deerfield, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lucille Zenor, brother-in-law Chet Zenor, and great-nephew Mark Bowman.
The family requests memorials in her name be made to Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
