Florence Jewel Lau, age 96, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday October 17, 2013 at a local care facility.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday October 21, 2013 at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff with interment following in Graceland Park Cemetery. Florence was born in Sioux City on November 23, 1916, the daughter of John and Julia Tucker. She attended Sioux City Community Schools and graduated from East High School in 1936.
On February 23, 1938 she was united in marriage with Harry W. Lau and Harry preceded her in death in May of 1995. The couple later moved to the Moville area where Harry worked on a farm and Florence took care of their children. They moved to the Lutton area on 1952 and resided there for many years.
Florence enjoyed her Sunday afternoon family dinners, crocheting, reading, flower gardening and listening to music. She cherished the time she could spend with her grandchildren, and was always there for her entire family.
Florence is survived by her son Robert H. Lau and his wife Carolyn, of Lutton, Iowa, her daughters: Bobbette Moreland and husband Marvin of Sioux City, Judy Erickson of Perry, Kansas, and Barbara Mercer and her husband Richard of Lutton, Iowa. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, 22, great grandchildren and her 8 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son William, a son-in-law Robert Erickson and a great grandson Todd Erickson.
