Faye Ellen Barnes 88 of Sioux City passed away peacefully Sunday, March 22, 2015 at her home following a brief battle with cancer.
Services will be 10:00 am Friday, March 27th at Waterbury Funeral Service at 4125 Orleans Avenue, Sioux City, IA with Sharon Burnett officiating. The family will be present during visitation from 4-8 pm Thursday, March 26th with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Faye was born May 7, 1926 in Sioux City to Samuel and Louisa (Streeter) Beauchene. She grew up in the Jefferson, SD area and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1944. She spent most of her adult life in Sioux City. She attended NBT College in Sioux City and worked at several Sioux City banks as a bookkeeper. She married Harold Barnes, her lifelong sweetheart, August 21, 1949 in Jefferson, SD. They were married 58 years.
She was a lifelong member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was involved with Women’s Department and the famous Chicken Noodle Dinner. She was also a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed playing the organ, gardening, crocheting and many years of fishing and enjoying good times with neighbors at their Lake Shetek home. She enjoyed playing Skipbo and cribbage, even getting a perfect cribbage hand! She cheered for the Minnesota Twins, attending several games with her family over the years, a tradition being carried on by her great grandchildren. She also watched the Chicago Bulls and many women’s basketball teams.
She is survived by her children and their families: daughter Karen (Larry) McCaslen, their children Michelle (Scot) Lilly, Matthew and sons Taelyr and Jaxon; son Gerald (Carol) Barnes and son Ryan (Kara) Barnes; son Wayne (Christy) Barnes, their children Angela (Jamie) Meins and daughter Isabelle and step great grandchildren Josh, Brianna (Cory), Joey Meins, Cory (Melonie) Barnes and daughters Olivia and Madelyn, Brandi Barnes and children Drake Clark, Victoria Schneiders and Jayden Cummings; a sister-in-law Evelyn (Mae) Graves and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, parents, Samuel and Louisa, 3 brothers, Elmer, Harvey and Cecil Beauchene, a sister who died in infancy and a brother-in-law George Graves
