Everett William Christiansen, 90, of Sioux City, Iowa was Escorted by Angels, and surrounded by family. Everett Christiansen went home to dwell with his heavenly father, on April 29, 2014.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 2, 2014 at Riverside United Methodist Church in Riverside with Pastor Kris Frank officiating, Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation will be 5pm - 7pm Thursday, with the Prayer Service at 7 pm, all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Everett was born in Burbank, South Dakota on December 2, 1923 to Chris and Millie (Amanda Miller) Christiansen. The family later moved to Beresford, South Dakota where he attended school.
He joined the Army, and served in World War II. He received the Purple Heart Medal while serving our country. Everett married Coleene Hansen in January of 1952 and to this union six children were born. He worked for Swifts and Company for 35 years. He retired in 1985 and became the Taxi Man for all of his grandkids; he coached little league baseball for many years, becoming a mentor to many young boys and girls in the Riverside Area.
He spent many hours umpiring at many fields in the Sioux City Area. He was recognized with a plague for his many years of service with baseball and umpiring. He loved playing cribbage with the retirees and was a member of The Riverside Cribbage League.
Everett is survived by his wife of 62 years, six children; Kathy Flaugh, Paula Hogan, Diane (Bob) Sorensen, Doug (Dorene), Dennis (Roxanne) and Dean. Many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sister Dee Carlson.
He proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers Wesley and LaVern, and a sister Lois Jean.
