Obituary

Eugene Lyle Entriken (Pooman), 68, of Sioux City, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at a local hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 26, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. with Rev. Dan Doran officiating. A visitation will begin at 9:00 am on Friday until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery.

Gene was born on November 7, 1946 in Sioux City, the son of Lyle Entriken and Margie Goodwin/Entriken.

Gene was a great man with a caring soul. He would do anything for anyone at anytime. He loved to hold the floor no matter where he was and would always speak his mind. He was one of the best poker dealers in the world. He worked at the first ever Riverboat in Sioux City, called the S.C. Sioux, and later at the Belle of Sioux City. His nickname was Mean Gean the Poker Dealing Machine. Gene also worked at various places in Sioux City, including Klinger Development. He would climb up on the towers, sometimes 1,000 feet, light up a smoke and enjoy the view.

Survivors include his son Matthew Entriken Niece Brooke Champlin, Great niece Meadow Brooke, Great Nephew Miciha Champlin, and brother-in-law Danny Champlin.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Steven Entriken, sister Joann Champlin, and his nephew Donald Champlin.

I, Matthew Entriken, would like to give a special thanks to Steve Massey and Dick Wordon who were always there, just a phone call away, no matter the time of day. Thank you!!
