Obituary

Enoch E. “Shorty” Graim, Jr. 76 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Friday, August 11, 2023, with his daughters at his side. Celebration of Life will be held from 6-8pm Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the American Legion Post 662 at 7:00pm.

Shorty was born on August 30, 1946, in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Enoch E. and Millred L. (Hynes) Graim, Sr. He grew up in Sioux City, Iowa and graduated from Heelan High School in 1964. On July 9, 1965, Shorty enlisted into the United States Navy, where he served in Vietnam. He received a national defense service medal, and a Vietnam service medal and one bronze star. On December 16, 1969, Shorty received his honorable discharge.

On February 17, 1968, Shorty married Saundra Cotton and in this union four daughters were born: Robbin, Stacy, Jodie and Janet. Shorty always wanted a boy but loved his girls. He worked at Chesterman Company with his mother and brother-in-law and at Solo Rotonics in the maintenance department. He was on their baseball league for many years. Shorty and Saundra were married for 17 years before they divorced. Shorty met Carla Force in 1983, and on July 21, 1984, they were married. Shorty became a father figure to four more children, Mary, Eddie, Joe, and Brian. Shorty got his boys he always wanted. Shorty and Carla were married for 34 years before she passed in 2018.

After working at Solo Rotonics, Shorty worked at various jobs around the Sioux City area including Payless Cash Way, Gateway Computers, Design Homes, and Bomgaars. He enjoyed many things, playing baseball, and horseshoes, bowling, coloring, gardening, watching westerns, baseball, Nascar, while eating his Oreos and drinking a Pepsi. Shorty was avid Bears fan and enjoyed going to the game in 2009 with Joe, but most of all he loved to build ships.

Shorty is survived by his three daughters, Robbin (Mick) Harrison, Jodie (Steve) Sturhenburg, Janet (Randy) Kellogg, his bonus children, Mary Wiles, Eddie (Brenda) Wiles, Joe Wiles, and Brian Force, sister, Phyllis (Tom) McArthur, 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Stacy, wife, Carla, grandchild, Alexsaundra Wingett.
