Elroy E. Altimus, 85 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family. Services will be held 3:00pm Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Elroy was born on June 3, 1938 in Sioux City, IA to Robert and Margaret (Angerman) Altimus. He graduated from Leeds High School in 1957 after graduation he joined the United States Army. He then worked at Master Mix in South Sioux City, Nebraska for many years before retiring.

Elroy enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He loved fishing, camping,playing cards and gambling. But most of all he enjoyed taking long walks, until he couldn’t.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter Brenda Altimus and her significant other, Billy; stepchildren Brett Anderson, Cindy Duerksen, Jerry (Melissa) Anderson, Debra (Daren) White, Stacie (Merlin) DeMers-Henke; sisters Marjorie Schumacher, Roberta O’Brian, Rita Lowe and Sherry Krage; and brother Davey McFadden.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy; his daughter Marie Vander Muelen; stepdaughter Kelly DeMers Randall; brothers Robert Altimus, William Altimus Peck; sisters Dawn McFadden and Sharon McFadden; a grandson; a great grandson; and two nieces.
