Elliott T. Johnson, 39 of Sloan, Iowa passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at home surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle against cancer.
A Memorial Mass will be held 10: 30 am Thursday, December 28, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Wednesday at the church, with a Vigil Service at 7 pm.
Elliott Theodore Johnson was born on September 8, 1984 in Sioux City, the son of Stanley and Deborah (Folsom) Johnson. He graduated from Westwood High School in 2003. Elliott then attended Western Iowa Tech Community College studying the electrical program. He went on to work for Mid-American Energy as a Lineman for 15 years.
On June 30, 2012 Elliott was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jessica Morrison. Elliott loved spending time with his family and his children were his whole world. He could often be found coaching or on the sidelines at their activities. Elliott enjoyed fishing, boating, cooking and smoking meats, and was known for his quick wit and orchestrating practical jokes on the unsuspecting. He was a loyal friend, active member of his community, and the first to offer a helping hand.
Elliott was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, he just finished serving a term on the Westwood School Board, and for the past 20 years, was a member of the Salix Fire Department, currently serving as the Assistant Fire Chief.
Elliott is survived by his wife of 11 years Jessica, two sons, Jaxton and Calen, one daughter Vivian; his mother Deborah Johnson, his grandmother Pat Folsom, two sisters, Katherine (Greg) Dyche and Trisha (Curtis) Gries, brother Anthony Johnson, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father Stanley Johnson and his paternal grandparents, Clyde and Dolores Johnson, and maternal grandfather, Dean Folsom.
