Ellen Julienne Constance (Limoges) Melton, 95 years, 8 months, 2 days, of Sioux city, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 at Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab in Sergeant Bluff.

Per her wishes, the body has been cremated. Memorial services will be held 7 pm Saturday, September 16 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 pm Saturday. Burial will be at St. Peters Cemetery at a later date.

Ellen was born on December 16, 1921 in Vermillion, South Dakota, the daughter of Joe and Josephine (Danderand) Limoges. Ellen grew up in Jefferson, South Dakota.

Ellen married James L. Melton on January 16, 1938 and together they had three children. Ellen was a wonderful homemaker and caregiver taking care of both her mother and father until their deaths.

Ellen enjoyed going to the local casinos and riding around Sioux City every year at Christmas time to look at all the decorations with her daughter Olivia.She loved going to Miles Inn for a schooner of beer and Charlie Boy with her daughter Barbara, who according to Ellen really knows how to party. Ellen loved spending time with her son James. Every Wednesday was Wal-Mart Shopping day. She had an eye for bargains and sometime shopped for hours wearing Jim completely out, but he loved it. Ellen loved playing cards with her family. Her grandson David would pick her up and off they would go to shoot the moon, her personal best three times in one night.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband James L. Melton, one grandson Joseph Van Maanen and Uncle John Limoges.
