Betty Erdmann, 89, of LeMars, Iowa died Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Good Samaritan Center in LeMars, IA. Funeral Services will be 10:30 Friday, March 24, 2017 at All Saints Parish, St. Joseph in LeMars, Iowa.Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in LeMars. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Erdmann was born April 19, 1927 in LeMars, Iowa, the daughter of John and Rose (Kusser) Erdmann. She attended St. Joseph School graduating in 1945. After graduation, she joined the US Cadet Nursing Corps. Betty did her training at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City. After passing her exam in 1948 she worked with polio victims for a time in Sioux City. Betty then joined the nursing staff at Sacred Heart Hospital in LeMars, now known as Floyd Valley Healthcare. Most of her years were spent in the surgery department. She retired in 1991 to take care of her aging mother. The family will be forever grateful for the loving care she gave her family.

Betty was a lifelong member of All Saints Parish, St. Joseph. She loved spending time with her family. Her many nieces and nephews were her children. Many of them considered her their favorite aunt. Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed working with her flowers and around her fish pond.

Survivors include her 4 sisters, Rosemary Robinette of LeMars, Marie Schmitz of LeMars, Sister Rosalie Erdmann of Sioux City, and Pat (Paul) Kolhoff of Round Rock, TX; 1 brother, Bernard (Arlene) Erdmann of LeMars; and many nieces, nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marcella, Nemmers; 3 brothers-in-law, Gordon Schmitz, Arnold Robinette and Marvin Nemmers; 3 nieces and nephews, Terri Nemmers, Joe Robinette and Bev Cockrell.
