Elena A. Johnson, 77 of Sergeant Bluff, died Saturday, January 28, 2017 at her residence.

Services will be held on what would have been her 50th wedding anniversary, Wednesday, February 1st at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue. Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service.

Elena was born on September 23, 1939 in Zamboanga City, Philippines. On February 1, 1967 Elena was united in marriage to Earle C. Johnson in the Philippines. Shortly after, they moved to California, then after Earle’s discharge, moved to Moville, then settled in Sioux City. They had just recently moved to Sergeant Bluff.

Elena studied hard and earned her American citizenship in 1974. She was very proud to become an American citizen. Elena worked at several Sioux City businesses, including the Sirloin Stockade then WinnaVegas Casino until retiring in 2009.

Elena is survived by her husband Earle, one son Cyrus Johnson of Sioux City and one daughter, Carla and her husband Kenny Clark of Emerson, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
