Eleanor "Ellie" Agnes Zimmerman

Eleanor "Ellie" Agnes Zimmerman, 89, of Sergeant Bluff, IA, passed away surrounded by her family on November 1, 2025. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Pastor Tom LoVan will be officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ellie was born on June 6, 1936 in Yankton, SD to John and Annie (Sopoci) Borgheiinck. She was united in marriage to Romar Whitney on April 14, 1951 until his passing in 1994. She then married Daniel Zimmerman on February 21, 1998. Ellie loved spending time with her family and cooking for everyone. 

She always made sure to have her guests favorite food on hand. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting afghan blankets, and doing puzzles. She worked at Palmer Candy, the Glass Palace and Zemanek Grocery as well as taking care of her children. Ellie also enjoyed bowling, coffee with friends, and having ice cream every night with her dog, Lady.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Daniel Zimmerman; children: Chuck Whitney, Lynn (Rodney) Wek, Mike (Michelle) Whitney, Jeffrey (Susan) Whitney, step-son, Duane (DeeAnn) Zimmerman; 8 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 11 step-greatgrandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Beaver.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Romar; 2 brothers: Stephen and Donald Borgheiinck.
